Bendigo Cinema Mural Opportunity

Project details

Expressions of interest (EOI) are currently open for a mural artist to design and execute a mural on the east wall of the Bendigo cinema building.

There is a 3 stage process to acquire a suitable artist:

  1. Submit an EOI to show your interest and share your existing portfolio
    CLOSES: 29/5/23 5pm

  2. Up to four artists will be selected to undertake a paid design development and presentation stage

  3. Artist is selected

Mural area is 10m high X 23m long

There is no specific theme identified for the mural, we are looking for an artist who has a distinguishable style that they can bring to the project. We are seeking an artist who can develop a storyline or narrative in their artwork to create a point of interest in Bendigo’s street art scene. Some key elements have been suggested below to assist the artist in their idea conception.

Project Budget

A project budget has been established

  • $500 will be awarded to each of the shortlisted artists

  • $22,000 will be awarded to the artist to cover all aspects of the project including further design development, travel, accommodation, materials and expenses incurred to complete the project

Project Timeline

  • 29/5/23 - 5pm EOI Closes 

  • 2/6/23 - Shortlisted artists notified 

  • 16/6/23 - Design development presentations due

  • 23/6/23 - Selected artist notified

  • 7/7/23 - Contracts signed

  • July/Aug - Detailed design development 

  • Aug/September - Mural Delivery (must fall outside of school holidays)

EOI Submission requirements

  • Artist bio and CV 

  • Up to 4 examples of relevant work, including at least 1 example of a large-scale mural execution

  • Statement about your creative style what you will bring to this project (max 200 words)

  • Why are you interested in this project (max 200 words)
